Royal Mail tracking
Paste your Royal Mail tracking number to see where your parcel is, with every scan from pickup to delivery.
What the statuses mean
The words used by Royal Mail change from service to service. ShipTrack groups them into a few clear statuses:
- Label created
The sender has created the shipment. The courier hasn’t picked it up yet.
- In transit
The parcel is moving through the courier’s network.
- Out for delivery
The parcel is on the van and should arrive today.
- Delivered
The courier has recorded the delivery.
- Needs attention
Something has slowed the delivery: a missed attempt, an address problem or a customs check. Read the latest event.
- Returned to sender
The parcel is on its way back to the sender.
Need to change the delivery?
ShipTrack shows tracking information only. To reschedule a delivery, collect a parcel in storage or open a claim, use the official Royal Mail website.
Official Royal Mail websiteHow often does Royal Mail update the tracking?
Every time the parcel is scanned: at pickup, at each depot and on delivery. Between two scans several hours can pass, and even a few days on international journeys.
Why is my Royal Mail number not found?
Usually because the label has just been created and the parcel hasn’t been scanned yet. Wait a few hours and try again. If it still fails after 48 hours, ask the seller to confirm the number.
Can I get a notification when my Royal Mail parcel moves?
Yes. Add the number in the free ShipTrack app and allow notifications: you’ll get one at every new scan, up to delivery.
